I think you aren't following the right people if all they talk about is what they've eaten and such. I've been an avid twitterer for the last year or so, and I find myself liking it more everyday. I think twitter is a great way to keep in touch/interact with other professionals in your community, and a tool you can use to promote your way of thinking amongst your social network. I've used it for my practice with tremendous success. The biggest difference between Twitter and Facebook are the 3rd party applications for Twitter.
